Music & Wine

I'm a huge fan of Alain Graillot's red Crozes, but the white blend, made from Marsanne and Roussanne, is every bit as delicious. I'm enjoying a glass of this while listening to the French jazzman and novelist, Boris Vian, singing Je Bois. Great lyrics, too. Systématiquement, indeed.

Mercedes Sosa had one of the great voices. Here she is singing Violetta Parra's Gracias a la Vida, a song to gladden the heart at the end of summer. I'm listening to this drinking a glass of 2010 Viñalba Reserva Cabernet/Malbec/Petit Verdot from Majestic.

I'm still on holiday in Spain. Even though it's Catalonia rather than Andalucía, I couldn't resist the match between the 12-year-old Taste the Difference Amontillado (£7.99 per 50cl, Sainsbury's) and the wonderful Paco de Lucía playing Entre Dos Aguas.

I'm on holiday in Spain this week, so what better wine and music match than my favourite Albariño, the 2011 Palacio de Fefiñanes (£15.19, Waitrose), with Alejandro Sanz singing Corazon Partio? You need the sun to be shining outside for this match to sing.
