Pink Martini and a summer rosé is my kind of match. I love the sultry tones of China Forbes' voice (I'm secretly in love with her, like most male Pink Martini fans) and this is a great value Spanish rosado from Tesco to sip while you listen: strawberry, rosehip and cherry flavours and tangy acidity. A bargain at £4.59.

I'm not sure why Cherry Ghost aren't better known. I love the energy of Thirst for Romance and the line about demons dancing across factory floors. To stay with the demonic theme, how about a glass of Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile (£5.99 at Tesco), still one of the best value reds from South America?

Martin Speake is one of my favourite modern jazz saxophonists. I love the mellowness of his tone. Here he is playing "When your lover has gone", which I'm listening to with a glass of fragrant, leafy, yet surprisingly supple 2008 GB Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero (£28, The Wine Society) in my hand. It's spring rather than more Barolo-friendly autumn right now, but who cares? This lifts my mood, despite the rather gloomy song title.

It's always great to catch up with winemakers who love music. I hadn't heard of jazz singer Kurt Elling until Michael Hill-Smith MW told me about him over a glass of wine. So what better match with such a great voice than the sultry, perfumed 2010 Pinot Noir (£26.50, Wine Direct) from this Adelaide Hills-based winery, the best release yet from S&S?
